Chamomile
Chamomile was dedicated to the sun god, Baldur. Hieronymus Bock in the 16th century and Tabernaemontanus in the following century used it for digestive problems and wound healing.
It has many common names such as Saint George's flower, paneritsa, white flower, linaki, martolloudo, etc.
Its medicinal properties have been known since ancient times and were mentioned by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans.
In Greece it is particularly widespread as it grows naturally in uncultivated areas and on the edges of roads. It is a weed in many winter crops but also in many other parts of the world.
