Thyme
Thyme has been used for centuries in folk medicine. In the 17th century the Englishman Culpeper used it against coughs, vomiting and internal bleeding. In the following century Linnaeus, who was interested in herbs only in terms of botany, used it against headaches.
In Greece, it is an important aromatic, medicinal and beekeeping plant. It grows naturally in areas of Spain, Algeria, Tunisia and Asia Minor.
The essential oil is obtained by distillation. It is a powerful antioxidant, antimicrobial and antifungal. It is traditionally used for respiratory problems. Of course, it is also widely used in aromatherapy and homeopathy.
